Ear wax removal in Beckenham, Bromley

Before we perform wax removal, our specialists will use video otoscopy to view the inside of your ear canal. This allows us to confirm that your ears are blocked with wax that requires removal.

Should video otoscopy reveal that there is no ear wax blockage, we will investigate further to establish what is causing your symptoms and give you the details for onward referral, if necessary.

We recommend using olive oil for a few days before your ear wax removal appointment. This will soften your ear wax, making it easier to remove. However, should we find impacted ear wax that is difficult to remove and requires an additional appointment, you will not be charged for this time.

Microsuction is our most frequently used method of ear wax removal. It is one of the safest and easiest ways of cleaning ears, when performed by a fully accredited wax removal specialist.

The microsuction technique uses gentle suction to clean the ear. This method is more comfortable and safer than other forms of ear cleaning.

We use a small thin tube that is placed on the ear wax, infection, or discharge in the ear canal, and the gentle suction removes the blockage.

Ear irrigation uses a gentle stream of warm water to safely lift wax out of your ears. Unlike ear syringing (which uses unregulated pressure), ear irrigation is safe to use when performed by a qualified clinician.

We are fully certified to perform ear irrigation, where clinically indicated, or where it is your preferred method. We use the latest irrigation system, which is regulated to ensure that the pressure is safe for your ear canal. It also automatically warms the water to the correct temperature to provide a comfortable procedure and prevent a caloric effect or any dizziness.

Please note that we are unable to perform ear irrigation if you have had a perforated eardrum and/or recent ear operation.

Following your wax removal treatment, we will confirm that your ears are clean and free from wax using video otoscopy.

We will also offer you a complimentary hearing screen, following your treatment.

Our hearing screen allows us to identify if your hearing is within normal range and, should we identify a hearing loss, we can book you in for a comprehensive hearing test with us at a later date.

All appointments take place at our state-of-the-art clinic in Beckenham, which is a two minute walk from Eden Park station. If you are travelling by car, we have complimentary on-site customer parking.
