Tips and news to support your hearing health.

It can be hard to know when to take action about your hearing, but if you’ve noticed changes or suspect you may have hearing loss, now might be a good time to seek further information. There are several things to consider when choosing the right hearing care professional, and we’ve spoken about this at length with our patients in the past. All hearing care professionals are not the same, so it’s important to find someone who is fully qualified, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and, most importantly, someone you like and trust. Many people choose a professional who has been personally recommended to them. We’re always happy to share reviews from our patients or put you in touch with someone who can answer any questions about our services.

When Should You Get In Touch?

From our patients’ feedback, these are the times they decided to take action, and we’ve listed them below to help others who may be unsure when, how, or with whom to begin their hearing journey.

If You Are Yet To Get Hearing Aids

Hearing care professionals, such as our expert team at Beckenham Hearing, can support you if you’ve noticed changes in your hearing. You may find that you’re turning the television up louder than before, saying “pardon” more often, or struggling to follow conversations. Other people in your household might comment that your hearing has declined, or you may notice that birdsong, music, or children’s voices don’t sound as clear as they once did.

Phone conversations may also have become more difficult. Sometimes, these symptoms are caused by earwax build-up, which can make you feel blocked or muffled. This is one of the times it’s important to see a hearing care professional. If your hearing changes are due to earwax occluding the ear canal, we can resolve this quickly and safely. Too much earwax can cause what professionals call a conductive hearing loss, an issue related to the ear canal, eardrum, or middle ear. This can make you feel disorientated, cause earache, or trigger tinnitus (ringing in the ears). If your hearing changes are due to medication or age-related hearing loss, our specialists can also provide suitable solutions to improve your hearing and quality of life.

If You Already Have Hearing Aids

Our existing patients, and those who come to us from other providers, often get in touch to learn about the latest technology. We offer a full technology review, assessing your current hearing aids, cleaning and checking them, and advising on newer options available to you, with no obligation. We believe in educating our patients about the latest advancements so they can continue living their lives fully and confidently. There’s no need to struggle with questions or frustration about your hearing when expert support is available. Sometimes, your existing hearing aids may simply need cleaning or basic maintenance that can’t be done at home. Your hearing care professional can help with this and ensure you always have a complete hearing solution in place. If you’re not happy with the service from your current hearing care provider, it’s important to make sure you’re receiving the right level of care and attention.

Hearing care should never be a one-off transaction, it should include regular six-month reviews and ongoing contact with your provider to ensure you’re hearing your best. At Beckenham Hearing, all our patients have the opportunity to contact us at any time. Unlike some high street stores, you’ll always see the same professional team who know you and your hearing history. Our approach is about building a relationship, because when it comes to your hearing, trust and care make all the difference.

Our Commitment To You

Whether you’re considering hearing aids for the first time or already wearing them, there are key times when getting in touch with your hearing care professional is important. At Beckenham Hearing, we pride ourselves on clear communication and always putting our patients at the heart of everything we do. Helping people hear better every day, safely and ethically, is our top priority.
