Learning to lipread can improve how much those with hearing loss understand, especially when used with hearing aids. It can help fill in the gaps in social situations with friends and family, give you more confidence at work or in education, or when using services, like doctors or banks.

A new 12 week course is set to begin in Bromley this coming September and is designed for anyone new to lipreading and looking to learn basic lip reading techniques.

The classes begin on Monday 12th September 2022 and are being held at the Poverest Centre in Orpington between 2.00pm and 4.00pm. It is worth noting that regular attendance is also necessary for continuing improvement of skills. A further series of classes are also set to begin on Monday 9th January 2023.

Class tutor Lisa Cox will work through a structured programme of exercises to develop lip reading techniques. She will also cover other aspects of managing hearing loss and it is a good chance to meet other people in the same situation if you have been feeling isolated.
